I purchased this Carmount 18 mo. ago and it fell apart!
I may have used it 10 times and the plastic piece that holds the suction cup in place broke off. I called TomTom to see if they could do anythink about it and of course it only had a 1 year warranty so, "Sorry we can't do anything for you!" was what they told me!
Don't buy it!!!!!

I am very pleased to finally be able to hook up my TomTom Rider 2nd Edition in my automobile. The car mount being reviewed not only includes a built-in charger that plugs into your cigarette lighter, but it also has a built-in speaker. The only downfall I have seen is that the volume doesn't get very loud, so you cannot have the radio up much if you want to hear directions clearly.

The car mount wasn't out of the package 30 seconds and it broke. There are 3 small screws that connect the speaker/mount to the base/swivel. The plastic between the screws cracked completely the first time I attempted to move the swivel.
Having said that, 2-part epoxy solved the problem and it is operational. As other have stated, speaker quality is good and, with epoxy strength, the swivel works fine.
Bottom line for me is this - for a little more money, I could have another complete GPS with built in speaker. I was trying too hard to maximize the use of the "rider 2." Not worth the hassle for me.

Mount is well constructed and has a good quality charger plug. Comes with a adhesive backed dish for dash mount. Suction cup mount works good. Built-in speaker is acceptable for normal use. Would have been nice if the unit had a audio line-out. A microphone to use the mount as a hands-free device would have given it a 5-star rating.
mount just breaks July 27, 2009

Looked and worked just fine but one day the mount just broke apart where it is screwed togather. Looked new but im wondering if it may have been a second or rejected from factory inspection. I mounted it and left it there one day it simply fell off the dash.
