Product Description Written by an engineer with decades of practical manufacturing experience, this book is a complete modern guide to sheet metal forming processes and die design still the most commonly used methodology for the mass-production manufacture of aircraft, automobiles, and complex high-precision parts. It illustrates several different approaches to this intricate field by taking the reader through the "hows" and "whys" of product analysis, as well as the techniques for blanking, punching, bending, deep drawing, stretching, material economy, strip design, movement of metal during stamping, and tooling. While concentrating on simple, applicable engineering methods rather than complex numerical techniques, this practical reference makes it easier for readers to understand the subject by using numerous illustrations, tables, and charts. Distinctive Features --Emphasizes the influence of materials as an aid to understanding manufacturing processes and operations. --Features the essential mathematical formulas and calculations needed for various die operations and performance evaluation. --Shows the comparative advantages and liabilities for each manufacturing process and operation. --Offers a complete picture of the knowledge and skills needed for the effective design of dies for sheet-metal forming processes highlighted with illustrative examples. --Provides properties and typical applications of selected tool and die materials for various die parts.

Useful book in Sheet Metal Forming November 10, 2006 Gustavo Jimenez Soto I consider that the book presents in way simple many aspects of help practice, so much stops professional people or it stops people that recently intrude in the field of doubled of metals.

This is really great book! Useful mathematical equations, and numerous illustrations. Everything you need to know about sheet metal processing and die design in nice layout, that is easy to understand and follow. I'm glad I purchased this book.
Sheet Metal Forming Processes and Die Design March 10, 2006 Thomas E. Seeley (Columbus, OH USA) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
The book is a quick read with many useful tables and rule-of-thumb calculations. Mostly, I enjoyed reading it. However, there were so many editing errors that I became disillusioned. For example, at one point there was a reviewer's comment left in the printed text, "I don't know what this means..." I hope the author revises and reprints in the future.

With over 30 years of my engineering experience I can say that this book is very good! It covers a lot of things related to the die design (blanking, bending, material economy, deep drawing tooling design) and it is definitely great addition to my library. Book is very ease to read and understand. Very practical design and layout as well.
