Product Description Welding is a skill that any do-it-yourself enthusiast needs in his arsenal. It's only when you can join metal that you can properly repair and create. This book is the perfect introduction for neophytes and an excellent refresher for veteran welders, a work so comprehensive and so complete that most readers won't need any further instruction. How to Weld starts with a brief history of welding, an overview of the different types of welding, and a thorough discussion of safety practices. Longtime welding instructor Todd Bridigum describes various tools and types of metals, as well as techniques and types of joints. Bridigum discusses gas, stick, wire-feed (MIG and TIG), even brazing, completing each section with a series of exercises that fully illustrate the skills he has covered.

| Customer Reviews: Teriffic welding book September 30, 2009 Carl M. Langkammerer Jr. (Maryland Eastern Shore) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Good for anyone from the beginner to the experienced welder. This book has clear explanations, good pictures and diagrams, and will make a useful reference in our shop. We got a copy from the library and decided we had to own it!
Superb reading material July 19, 2009 Kevin D. Gebert (Dorchester, WI) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This book has it all with clear photos and illustrations for several methods of welding. I've got a few other books but this one I would put at the top. The author is very clear in what he's trying to convey to the reader on the correct ways to weld. He shows examples of poor welds to help you identify what you are doing wrong and how to correct your work. There's great exercises to help build your technique. I'm primarily interested in Wire feed welding now and its been 20yrs since I've last welded at all with a stick and this book helps out tremendously. It is a great read for experienced and novice welders in my opinion and the next best thing to sitting in a refresher class.

This publication has helped to determine what kind of welding I should learn. I want to purchase the right equipment and learn myself, this book has given me confidence and I look forward to when I use this book after the equipment is purchaced.
How to weld for idiots May 21, 2009 Jason Temple (LA USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Great book that really helped me to learn the basics of the basics and ruin the couple of hundred I spent on a welding machine. Goes into detail on metal type and how to weld it. Great book for the bucks to learn how to weld.
