An extremely informative and fully illustrated instructional guide to setting up an airbrushed nail business! September 15, 2008 Pro Beauty Education (UK) At the time of writing; this is the only book of its kind available to U.K. Beauty Therapists for airbrushing fingernails. As a lecturer and former salon owner; in the past I have had to rely on professional trade articles to learn this trade; which are few and far between. This book is dedicated to the Nail Artist/beauty professional; and it is a welcome addition to the expanding range of Beauty Therapy textbooks. All the advice needed is included to purchase equipment; set up; and perform nail art airbrushing services in the salon. An impressive section regarding different types of airbrushes illustrates how knowledgeable Elizabeth Anthony is regarding this subject. My only suggestion for this book would be the inclusion of a section regarding health and safety and the wearing of a safety mask. My experience of using airbrush equipment has been that airbrush cleaners can cause problems in your breathing zone. However the book does include information on an extremely useful `cleaning station' (to spray your airbrush cleaner liquid into and reduce overspray). This is a small jar with a filter cap that traps airbrush paint. This does go some way towards decreasing this problem; but does not protect the breathing zone of the Beauty Therapist.
Overpriced January 4, 2007 Mr. R. A'court My nail technician didn't learn an awful lot from this book, overpriced for what it is in my honest opinion.
Worth the cost, BEST airbrush book out there! November 2, 2004 kre8iv1 (Flemington, NJ) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Thank you Elizabeth!! This book got me started, and continues to be my reference. It is sad that Elizabeth no longer teaches nail airbrushing, but TooMuchFun (www.toomuchfun.net) does and this book is a great jumping off point to the TMF training. DO NOT rely on just this one book, however. Contact airbrushing companies (like: www.bearair.com, www.airbrush.com, www.iwata.com, www.airbrushaction.com), attend trade shows, and talk to people in the field of nails BEFORE buying an airbrush system. The airbrush shown in this book is ALL PLASTIC and is NOT a good system. I bought it and SENT IT BACK. The techniques are ROCK SOLID, however, and will be a guide to you throughout your career.
Good coverage of the art and business of airbrushing nails January 23, 2002 John W. Crockett (Huntington Beach, CA USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This book covers all the bases and gives good detail into the techniques, materials, and supplies required in the business of airbrushing nails. Several illustrations help guide you through some of the step-by-step processes. I would recommend this book to anyone who is seriously contemplating running a nail airbrushing business or is a serious hobbyist, even if you already have experience in airbrushing.
This is the book you must have! May 6, 2001 Jill (Baltimore, Md USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I cannot say enough about this book. If you are a nail technician, spend the money and purchase this. It is worth every cent. I am constantly referring to this book and it truly covers everything. It covers color theory in depth, procedures, techniques etc. Of course you have to practice, practice, practice, but I feel this book is a must have.
