Product Description
California is motorcycle heaven for motorcyclists. With its year-round riding, superb routes through mountains, coasts, deserts, grand forests, and an enthusiastic and supportive motorcycle scene, it's easy to see why. In this updated and expanded new edition, Clement Salvadori, one of motorcycling's most popular journalists, guides you along some of the lesser-known motorcycling gems in California, as well as pointing the way to the unspoiled places of Mexico's Baja peninsula. Routes are often clustered around base camps, which means you can leave your luggage and explore an area unencumbered for several days. The book is filled with detailed maps, photographs, easy-to-follow directions, and tips on where to stay and what to see and do. Some of the best trips include: The Central Coast and Big Sur Highway, San Francisco and the Bay Area, Lassen National Park and the Northern Sierra Nevadas, Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks, Death Valley, Palm Springs, Julian and Eastern San Diego County, and of course the fabulous Baja California.

A must read if you live in SoCal and ride a motorcyle November 27, 2008 Trish (CA) I have made it my mission this year to enjoy the beauty of my home state. My husband and I both ride our own bikes and we decided to take a "home" vacation this year. This book was essential. With the routes right there in black and white, restaurant reviews, hotel advice, road challenges a rider may face, etc..this book more than paid for itself by saving us time and money!

This book does a great job of luring you to California for some winter motorcycling. I'm excited for a trip there next month
Don't buy it for Baja February 3, 2008 Baja Bound (San Jose, CA United States) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
If you're interested in exploring Baja, don't buy this edition. It covers only MEX 1. I liked the first edition so much that I bought this one for updates. The first edition had twice as many pages for Baja, including MEX 3, plus ratings on the common dirt roads. None of those are in here now. I think the only updated info was the exchange rate; they didn't even add Web sites for contact info within Mexico. I was really disappointed with this one. If you only want to travel MEX 1 it may be okay because you won't realize how much is missing, but the info is outdated and you can travel MEX 1 just fine without it.
Cool book December 23, 2007 L. Schmidt (San Diego, CA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I gave this as a gift and the recipients were very happy!! Lots of adventures for motorcycling around California, detailed directions for each trip, and great pictures.
