MR. NORMS GRAND-SPAULDING began in 1948 when Norm Kraus and his brother Len started selling used cars at their dads gas station at the corner of Grand and Spaulding in Chicago. By 1956 the brothers were focusing on stick shift and performance cars. Due to space limitation in a newspaper ad, the name Mr. Norm first appeared, and it stuck. In the fall of 1962, Grand Spaulding Dodge opened, a new-car dealership focusing on performance cars. In 1963 Mr. Norms Sport Club was established, and the dealership began selling Mr. Norms racing apparel. In 1964 Norm formed the first Grand Spaulding Dodge racing team, and for the next seven years sales of new Dodges doubled every year. By 1974 Grand Spaulding became the largest volume Dodge dealership in the world. In 1977 Norm sold his interest in the dealership.
