5 out of 5 stars Comprehensive guide for wind turbine engineering   March 23, 2009

Recent fever of renewable energy provoked me to delve into any business opportunites in wind farm project and I started to find a comprehensive guide for wind turbine engineering. There were some books, somewhat simpler, but I was looking for a more comprehensive one and found this one. Before this one, I purchased with many reviews with favorable comments, but it was very disappointing. I tried again and found this one after a couple of pages of search results reviewed. Although I am working as a project financier, mechaninal engineering in university facilitaed me to tackle this book. Amoungst 4-5 books so far I have read about wind energy related books, this book provides most comprehensive coverage from aerodynamics to current trend. However, I think that undergraduate coursework or any similar understanding in mechanics and engineering will be required to be able to follow through the contents. One thing sad is that someone stole this book on the way back to Korea after I attended European Wind Energy Conference held in Marseille, France March 2009. I was reading about two thirds of the book and as I made up my mind to read this book at least two to three times to build up wind engineering knowledge, I will order another one. If someone finds mine somewhere, lost between Marseille and Rome, please read it, not to use as a pillow, and keep in mind that mastering the book may lead you to wind bonanza. I would like to strongly recommend this book for beginner in wind turbine industry and wind farm business developer or financier who have enough curiosity and willingness to understand how wind becomes electricity, and finally transforms into money. 5 out of 5 stars Comprehensive!   June 6, 2007

This book helped me ace my mechanical engineering senior design project every step of the way. The material is easy to grasp for anyone with a basic background in math/science; and learning about how this stuff works is fascinating! The chapter on aerodynamics alone kept me writing computer codes for months. The author's writing style is modern and easy to follow.
