Product Description Stepping Stones is a new work of fiction by Connor Davidson - In a distant future, following a long period of anarchy, the human race finds itself mired in stagnation. Once again, wooden ships sail the oceans and beasts of burden travel the roads. - Hints of a magnificent past, found within the ruins of ancient cities, drive nations toward the seemingly impossible goal of rebuilding what was lost. Professor Paul Leysmith seeks to unravel the mystery surrounding the fall of the greatest civilization and the many failed attempts at recovery. He leads his students, Samantha Hardy and Wendy Shaw, to a city discovered beneath the frozen soil at the edge of an ice shelf covering much of the northern hemisphere. What they find captures the attention of distant powers and threatens to trigger conflict across the civilized world. From the ice covered north to the great cities of a green and fertile Saharan plain, the characters search for clues to explain the unusual state of their world. One unexpected discovery makes the prospect of war a certainty. - Caught between great powers from the south, the tiny nation of Georgia struggles to protect the treasure discovered north of its border. Battles rage over the Atlantic and onto those shores, ultimately threatening to spread over the entire continent as the desperation of their adversary becomes obvious. - Stepping Stones presents a greatly altered landscape, both geographically and politically. It leads its characters across this background, finally answering the questions that have haunted the people of their era since they climbed above a chaotic past. - Available in hardcover and 6 x 9 paperback.

Stepping Stones, a most unusual insight into the future June 26, 2008 Robert Downs (Sylvania, OH USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've been a fan of Science Fiction since the late 1930's, and have read many stories. Stepping Stones stands right up there with the finest of them. It was both an interesting and believable plot that builds to a most unusual and spectacular climax. Stepping Stones is a really fine piece of work that will hold your attention through the many trials and tribulations of its characters. Connor Davidson has truly created a Science Fiction tale that could just be a view of things to come.
Never before has such an amazing future been so expertly mixed with todays events April 27, 2008 Scott H. Markley 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
There are few books in my library that I have read and had so many, "Wow" moments. Sea battles, powerful enemies, wonderfully crafted characters, sudden plot developments and a believable yet fantastical setting all lead to one of the best books I have ever read. If you find yourself looking for a read and don't mind wading through the first couple of chapters you will soon find yourself in the deep end of intrigue, action, mystery and a thought provoking experience.
Great story with lots of detail April 27, 2008 John Markley (Newport, RI) Wow! This book has so many moving parts and so much information that it truly invents a detailed global future. The first 100 pages the author does a great job of detailing the current state of the world. After that, you begin to get involved in a global conflict. Great character development. Great detail.
