Product Description
When it comes to scale-size motorsport thrills, few hobbies can match the untethered thrills of R/C cars. Whether screaming across the asphalt or bounding over a dirt course, R/C cars offer enthusiasts an ever-increasing level of power, detail, and sophistication. In this volume for veteran and newbie R/C enthusiasts alike, ace hobby writer Robert Schleicher offers a fully illustrated guide to both electric and fuel remote-control vehicles. From selecting the right scale and tending to the power source to tuning the chassis and choosing gear ratios and tires, Schleicher covers all the angles that go into R/C driving. He also considers nitro power, painting and decals, off-road driving techniques, setting up road-race courses in parking lots, and even building off-road courses. Appendices include a glossary and information on clubs, publications, and suppliers.

5 out of 5 stars R/C car bible   August 4, 2009

Great product that really gives alot of tips and direction on getting the most out of your R/c. I really like that it covered a wide variety of cars. Thanks.

3 out of 5 stars Pretty good, but very basic   April 13, 2009
Javert (Canada)
Very good looking book (lots of color pics), and has some good information for the newbie, but not enough - you won't really learn any "how to's" in here. If you're a book hound like me you may like it anyway, but the internet is a better source for learning how to do basic things like change shock oil, solder wires, clean motos etc.

4 out of 5 stars Mr. Don   March 24, 2009
Donald C. Przybyla (Pretoria, south africa)
This is a good book on how to understand how an RC car works. It is also good on how to repair and race your RC car. I would like to see more on the different types of cars like micro-racers. There is good information on larger RC cars and the book really focuses on nitro cars.

3 out of 5 stars Good book for absolute beginners   March 12, 2009
V. Antal (Chicago, Illinois)
This is a good book for absolute beginners as it explains the various types of RC cars. I would not recommend it for people that have been in the hobby for more than a couple months. After only being in the hobby for less than a year, I really don't feel I learned much (if anything) from this book. The only part that is detailed enough is the one about tuning the chassis. I feel some of the topics are useless and even boring. It's nice that the book has good pictures, but the text leaves a lot to be desired. Also, whoever edited the book is not very good, as there are many typos, grammatical errors, and misspellings.

In conclusion... If you are a young person who is interested in learning more about the hobby before diving in, this book is for you.
