4 out of 5 stars Excellent, detailed R/C engine text   April 4, 2001

This book is undoubtedly one of the best (if not THE best) texts on the subject I've encountered. The section on correct running-in of engines should be included in the box with each and every 2-stroke R/C engine sold. Engine manufacturers' instructions in this regard are almost without exception woefully inadequate. This chapter alone could in many cases repay the book's cost in extending engine life and performance!

The section on engine theory and historical development is extremely comprehensive. In fact, I have not found the book lacking in any particular area, with all the necessary carb adjustment info there if one looks for it. This is the sort of book one can reread a dozen times and then still find something new each time it is opened!

An essential reference work for any aeromodeller who really wants to understand the workings of, and obtain optimum performance and durability from the "noisy thing on the nose of the plane!". Highly recommended.

3 out of 5 stars great on engines, not enough on carburaters   September 24, 1998

This is an execellent book if all you want to do is understand the principles of how the engine works and some general problem solving. In my experience with model engines, it is most common that the carburetter needs adjustment and that is where this book is really lacking.
