A good book. it explains things in simple terms, with lots of pictures. Definitely a must have for the non professional/do it yourselfer.
My biggest gripe(and the reason for 4 stars)is that while explaining the steps of a procedure, the book will reference details in another section without adding a page number. This leads to stopping what your doing and looking through the table of contents. This can be a real pain, especially when the section you are referenced to, refers you to another section again with no page number. My other complaint is that all of the pictures are black and white. This is not a big deal for 99% of the pictures, but it comes up short on the spark plug diagnosis chart. The bottom line is that this is a great book with loads of information. It should come as factory equipment with your motor.

4 out of 5 stars Yamaha outboard rebuild   October 31, 2008

Manual had all the information I needed for rebuilding a 6hp outboard. There is a lot of information for all Yamaha outboards in this manual, so picking out the 6hp information was a challenge at first. The manual identifies chapters well. Information in each chapter starts from the smallest horse power motor first and progresses in horse power toward the end of the chapter.
