3 out of 5 stars Very good, but dated   November 6, 2009
K. Jones
If you have read any of Probst's books you know what to expect: good, clear textbook-liked explanations, except not as dry as most textbooks. The only reason I didn't rate it higher is, it only covers systems through early 1990's, and Amazon doesn't tell you that. The book cover led lead me to believe it covers more than it does, too. Of the Motronics, only the earliest versions are discussed. The book is Copyright 1989 and 1991, but I don't know when it was printed. Probst died in 2000. So, if you are specifically interested in understanding how 1980's Bosch FI systems work, this is the book to buy. What is covered, is covered well. To learn how to apply this knowledge to repair and tuning, keep looking. One suggestion, check out the VWVortec list on the web.

4 out of 5 stars Read this book before you mess with it   July 21, 2009
Richard
Gives a comprehensive and understandable description of theory and operation applicable to most fuel injection systems, with specifics for Bosch systems. Does not seem to have been revised since the copyright date of 1991, so may not cover later developments.
For myself, a retired and ageing engineer with his first injection cars, it bridges the gap between following instructions in manufacturers' workshop manuals and understanding what I am actually doing.
Should be required reading for some car dealers' service staff, many of whom are little more than spare parts changers nowadays. I fix my own stuff - I can go out myself and buy little boxes to swap if that's what's really needed. 90% all of electrical problems are down to bad wiring connexions anyway!

5 out of 5 stars valuable   March 5, 2009
Osorio Batres Silvia Rebeca (Guatemala city Guatemala)
This is The book for any bosch fuel system newbie. This is not a "how to hotrod.." type book but your hotrodding effort would be so much better if you knew how the systems worked and that is where this book shines.

3 out of 5 stars Very good overwiew of Bosch EFI   September 6, 2008
E. Kitani (Brazil)
It is a very easy book to understand and can be usefull for those want only to know how the Bosch's EFI works. There are several photos and diagrams showing how to troubleshooting and service a real EFI.

4 out of 5 stars A good addition for a CIS troubleshooter...   August 21, 2008
Jim Patko (Birmingham, Alabama USA)
I can't speak to the other Bosch systems, but anybody who owns a CIS Porsche and is interested in understanding (stock up on beer) and troubleshooting the Bosch CIS will benefit from this book. Since I bought this book for my SC with CIS, I now also have a Turbo with CIS, and so I expect this book to stay with me forever.
