A wonderful read! December 25, 2000 Liria G. Morrell/Bill (Lexington, Kentucky USA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
You don't have to be a nerd or an engineer to enjoy this book, and it reads like a book, not a TEXTbook. Anyone interested in the history of science will benefit from this book, and it would make a good gift for high school or college students considering a career in science. The book was given to me, and I approached it with apprehension at fist, thinking it would be just another boring factoid book, but I was very very wrong, and before I knew it, I was done and wanting more!
Very good history of IC ignition July 19, 2000 Don Bowen (Valley Center, CA USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a short and easy to read history of the development of Internal Combustion engine ignition systems from early atempts at spark through flame to modern breaker point systems. Sparks and Flames is not an indepth study but the references provide enough sources for the reader to continue study. This book will provide an important reference for anyone interested in the hostory of IC engines.
