Product Description This Second Edition retains all the same primary objectives as the original text: First, to present basic combustion concepts using relatively simple and easy-to -understand analyses; and second, to introduce a wide variety of practical applications which motivate or relate to the various theoretical concepts. The overarching goal is to provide a textbook which is useful for both formal undergraduate study in mechanical engineering and in related fields, and informal study by practicing engineers.

Great book, late delivery December 6, 2009 Brandon Phang This is a fantastic book. Highly recommended. However, didn't receive the book on time. The delivery took way too long and somewhat it was sent to the wrong address. It was really hard to get customer service support on this matter.

It took three weeks for me to get the book, but the quality of the book is good!BTW, the price is a little higher
Software Surprise September 21, 2009 MECO I needed this book for a graduate class and amazon saved me approximately $100. I was surprised to find that the software for this book was contained on a floppy disk. Luckily, I have access to a computer that still has a floppy drive.
Excellent Text August 18, 2009 J. Attia 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Simply excellent introductory text of the subject. Turns is an excellent educator and author and makes the introduction to the subject as easy as possible. I used it as a grad student at Purdue and loved it.
An Introduction to Combustion : Concepts and Applications November 16, 2008 D. Hoyne (Riverdale, NY) Its combustion, its a hard concept to understand - because it is as broad of organic chemistry. The sub-reactions are in the hundreds for even a simple combustion and can grow to the thousands with more advanced reactions. It makes you feel a bit smarter than the average person. Have some exposure to general and organic chemistry prior to reading/thinking about reading this book, otherwise - it is all gonna be a blur.
