Product Description This unabridged compact edition of this popular title is a stunning celebration of Larry Desmedt (19492004), genius motorcycle builder/artist, daredevil extraordinaire and introspective philosopher, better known as Indian Larry. He remains the motorcycle worlds most beloved figure, known equally for his wild antics, his gentleness and generosity, and the radical bikes that reflected his carnivalesque character. One of the originators of the hard-core-style custom chopper, he combined ingenious metalwork and inventive engineering in highly collectable chrome sculptures that have garnered worldwide respect and recognition. In Indian Larry renowned photographer Timothy White pays tribute to an intimate friend, a riding companion and his most compelling photographic subject ever.

A Legend in his own Lifetime October 8, 2008 Rowan L. Stephens (Australia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This a book of images that speak louder than words. A photographic dedication to the man who lived his life his way. The book's chapters are starred by each particular chopper Larry was creating or riding at the time. The beautiful images of Larry that complement the bike of the moment are very revealing. Indeed he was a showman and a shaman, but the soul of this great man seems to talk in many of these amazing photographs by Timothy White. Some of the images are candid, some contrived, but it's the glimpses of Indian Larry in his infamous bike stunt, the one that eventually claimed his life, that are the most moving.
Apart from Larry, the pictures of his bikes are equally breathtaking, and his soul indeed lives on through these creations.

Breathe taking photos, with great detail and the highest quality I've ever seen. Timothy White did an excellent job, and I recomend it to any Indian Larry fan.

Timothy White has captured some great moments on this oversized beautifully printed book of Larry's personal life and his bikes, shot on location and in the studio, its one of my favorite bike books of all time.
I just wish there were some shots of Indian Larry's Indian choppper.
If a picture's worth a thousand words... June 16, 2006 Norman Repacholi (Melbourne, Australia) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
...then you'll never get tired of 'reading' this book. I say 'reading' because it's not a book filled with stores and anecdotes of Indian Larry's life, it's more of a pictorial celebration of Indian Larry.
Don't buy this book if you want a biography.
It's an excellent 'coffee table' style book, something you'll pick up quite often just to flick through the pictures and look over them again. The pictures themselves are wonderful, and the large format of the book gives the whole package greater visual impact. If you're a fan of Larry then this book is a must have for your bookshelf.
Brilliant! April 17, 2006 Nadeem Khan 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
A spectacular book that captures Larry and his friends in a wide variety of moods. Timothy White captures Larry perfectly, and now that Larry's gone, this document becomes all the more important.
A great book that should be looked at not just by chopper fanatics but by anyone who's interested in the inner workings of eccentrics.
