| Customer Reviews: Excellent Read, Great Pictures and Illustrations August 5, 2009 William H. Harris (Boston area) If you are a fan of BMWs, especially GS bikes, you should pick up this book. Very enjoyable read. Goes back to the beginning of off road racing by BMW up to today's latest models. Covers the GS model creation and progression. Wonderful pictures and many great illustrations. Highly recommended by a GS Adventure bike owner.
just a good read April 24, 2009 David G. Walker im of the breed that likes pictures when they read a book and this newest in a long line of BMW books hits the nail on the head, and doesnt miss anything having to do with adventure-sport for the brand
Excellent Reference on the GS April 3, 2009 Ursa Major 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've owned 10 BMW GS's over the last 16 years, and currently own one (I actually bought a GS a few years ago from the previous reviewer, never should have sold it). I'll probably always own one; every iteration of the GS has been the perfect all-around, do-everything motorcycle of its era. They last forever, and early models are steadily increasing in value. This book isn't cheap, but the production quality is excellent, with quality paper and full color on most pages. It covers every street model of the GS, both the traditional boxer twins and the more recent 650 singles and 800 parallel twin models, as well as BMW's extensive racing history with the GS (including several Paras-Dakar wins). If you're a GS (or BMW) fan, you've got to own the book. If you're considering picking one up, this is an excellent introduction (then join the forums at [...] and allocate a month or so to reading old posts..). Highly recommended.
Great book. Incredible photos. A Must Have March 19, 2009 T. Vervaeke (Colorado Springs, CO USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Just got this book a few weeks ago. I'm an airhead owner and not that interested in the other material. On the airhead side alone there is an incredible amount of data, photos, press photos, cutaway drawings, and race photos. Some of the information was new to me despite the fact that I own a 1993 BMW R100GS.
The authors did a great job on putting all of this data into one place. This book will have a place on my coffee table for the next year and then will become a treasured member of my BMW motorcycle book collection.
Highly recommended.
