Product Description The History of Choppers Rolling Sculptures Rob Wieland The History of Choppers explores the past, present and future of how chopper riders and builders are pushing this metallic self-expression into the realm of art. From the sleek lines of a custom ride to the savage beauty of a rat bike scrambled together from spare parts, every chopper represents something unique about its owner and is the ultimate statement of who the rider is. The History of Choppers tells the stories of the people behind the paint and pipes that make their choppers unique. The History of Choppers covers early bike makers, evolution from back alley machines to rich urban versions, Hollywood's fascination with choppers, myth and reality behind biker symbolism, the clash between choppers and manufacturers, and a glossary of biker lingo.

Buy This Book August 13, 2007 A. Andries (Mukwonago, WI) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book was informative and interesting. It kept me reading from cover to cover with great photos to draw it all together. Additionally, the author does an outstanding job of writing amusing and enlightening captions. The overall style of the book, as far as its layout, is very modern. You won't be disappointed, buy this for yourself or as a gift.
This is an awful book. March 30, 2007 Kerry Swartz 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you have just the slightest amount of motorcycle knowledge, this book will insult you. The photos are just random images that hold little or no reference to the text. Captions are mawkish, tired and flatly wrong in some cases. Sometimes photos are backwards, laid out in an arbitrary manner, focus is soft in many and paint job details are sometimes shown in b&w. There are no builder, fabricator or photo credits. Something you'll probably find on a bargain table sooner rather than later.
Inaccurate Captions March 28, 2007 J. Gobeille (Nashville, TN) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this as a gift for my boyfriend who is a custom chopper builder. He was initially happy with it, he was paging through it saying, "cool", but then he started to notice that some of the picture captions were incorrect, particularly when referencing the type of engine featured. He was very disappointed. I am returning this book.
